The French Police seized 6.9 tons of marijuana last Sunday in the Parisian region, writes the France Soir.
According to the newspaper, this seizure, which was one of the biggest ever taking place in French territory, was made possible after “several months of investigations in liaison with the competent services of Morocco”.
This operation, which allowed for the arrest of seven individuals of whom two were French nationals, is the consequence of “a facilitated exchange of information” between the judicial police forces of Morocco, France and Spain, who decided to work together at the end of 2009, adds the newspaper quoting a source of the French Ministry of Home Affairs.
According to the investigators, this network that operated between Morocco, Spain and France in now “dismantled”.
The seizure was carried out after investigations took place for “import of narcotics”, “illegal dealings in narcotics” and “criminal association” on January 30, according to the same source.
The drugs, concealed in a fruit cargo, were intended for the French market, in particular in the Parisian region. It’s valued at close to 35 million Euros.
