Drug trafficking is likely to be trasnational organized crime largest source of income globally. Taking advantage of social problems within a large part of our society, the consumption of drug leaves a remarkable trace in every country’s civil society. According to an estimate provided by the IMF (International Monetary Fund), drug trafficking generates about 300 billion euro a year: approximately as much as Denmark or Greece national GDP.
Such a huge circle of money not only causes an endless series of social problems and cultural influences in nearly all countries of the globe, but it also heavily affects worldwide economy. We as FLARE have been concentrating our ttention upon policies to contrast organized crime implemented by governments and international political nstitutions at European and at global level. We have been also focusing on promoting a common path for civil societies and political institutions to follow against organized crime, also attempting to monitor the quality of those (policies) already ongoing.
This is why we believe very important to give room to Sandro Donati’s researches that have been analyzing for years now the present policies aimed at the fight against transnational organized crime implemented by UN agencies.
