The event began with Hans-Gert Pöttering, the President of the EP, reconfirming the staunch support of European and International institutions for FLARE and its initiatives.
Events will be held in 33 countries in Europe and the Mediterranean area before the campaign draws to a close on the 11th of May in Bari. The campaign will be manifested in the Netherlands through a special event in The Hague, city of Peace and Justice, on the 9th of April 2009.
This event will be a unique opportunity to deliberate on the status of organised crime, not only in the Netherlands, but all over Europe and to stimulate the active participation of civil society in the struggle against illegality and organised crime.
