Dossier Bulgaria: a country in between

Source:

dossier-bulgariaThis is the first dossier produced by the FLARE network. It intends to give an overview of two specific issues that have become of tremendous actuality in Bulgaria since the fall of the Soviet Union: the collusion between politics and organized crime – from now on referred to as “corruption” – and the low level of freedom of press.

It is essential to note that this dossier is not built by FLARE at first hand. It is rather a collection of articles, interviews and analyses produced by a number of organizations listed at the end of the dossier, whereas FLARE functioned as coordinator. Therefore, all contents of the present dossier can be found at their correspondent references, with few exceptions made on purpose for this dossier.

The ultimate aim of the dossier is to raise awareness about the present situation in Bulgaria. Reader-friendly, focused on few, specific issues, Dossier Bulgaria intends to keep up the attention on a country that plays a crucial role in the international criminal market and in the EU political equilibrium.
