Declaration 108/08 for the European Parliament

The Declaration 108/08 that FLARE Network intends to take to the European Parliament in March 2009 is now available in 22 languages:

The declaration represents an important part of the European Social Campaign that FLARE is going to take to 20 countries in Europe and surrounding areas, and- specifically - it intends to:

1. have March 21 be declared the “European Mafia Victims’ Memorial Day – Anti-Mafia Action Day”;

2. call on the European Commission and Council to pass the legislation required to enable property and money confiscated from international criminal organisations to be reused for social purposes;

3. call on the Eurpean Commission and Council to devote that day to awareness-raising initiatives in Member States, to be pursued in cooperation with civil society and national, regional, and local authorities;
